Satopanth Lake Trek begins from Mana Town, which is 3 km away from Badrinath. Located in the overwhelming ranges of the Garhwal region, this green three-sided lake offers a feeling of tranquility and peace. History of Satopanth Lake Trek

This lake lies over 14000 ft, concealed inside the ridge known as  “the way to truth” (Satya Ki Pantha). The Panch Pandavas of Mahabharata took this path to heaven. At many places on the path, the legends live, and the names look similar to the myth.Many people said that the Trimoortis, Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, take bath in the lake. Devotees and Sadhus visit this lake during the Sacred season.

Satopanth Lake is situated amidst snow-covered tops at an elevation of 16,000 feet over the ocean level. The lake is found 22 km away from Badrinath. Balakun Pinnacle, Kuber Top, Mt. Neelkanth, and Mt. Swargarohini are the peaks on the way to Satopanth.

How to Reach Satopanth Lake Trek?

By Train:

The closest railway station to Joshimath is Rishikesh railway station at a total distance of 250 km. Joshimath is well connected by roads with Rishikesh.

By Air:

Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the closest air terminal. It is 273 km away from Joshimath. This airport is nearer to Rishikesh (approx. 16 km) and requires approximately 20-30 minutes to arrive at Rishikesh.

By Road:

You can reach Joshimath from Haridwar or Rishikesh by Bus or by taxi also. The drive is extremely picturesque and runs along the Ganga and its feeders.

Itinerary for Satopanth Lake Trek

Arrival in Joshimath

Reach Joshimath then check into the hotel. In the Evening explore the Joshimath region. 

Joshimath – Badrinath – Jhamtoli

Drive from Joshimath to Badrinath 45 km, the trek is around 8 km. Upon reaching, visit Badrinath temple and also Mana Town and from there, Trek starts towards Jhamtoli.

Jhamtoli to Chakratirtha

We start to travel up to Laxmi Van and thereon to Sahastra Dhara. After taking some rest, continue your trek toward Chakratirtha.

Chakratirtha – Satopanth lake – Chakratirtha

Chakratirtha to Satopanth Lake is around 5 km. Satopanth lake is a three-cornered lake with frosty cold, crystal clear, emerald waters with a boundary of around 1-2 km, it is located at a rise of 4465 mts above ocean level. Complete a Trek of 10 km.  Then trek back to Chakratirtha

Chakratirtha – Jhamtoli

In the morning after breakfast trekking up to Chakartirtha, there is a heavy formation of glaciers that ahead to the Gaumukh of the Bhagirathi.

Jamtoli – Badrinath – Joshimath

Journey down to Mana Town. Visit Ganesh and Vyas Gufa. Drive to Badrinath and visit the temple. After lunch drive to Joshimath.

Takeoff from Joshimath

This is the elastic day of the trek. On reaching Joshimath, give a tight hug to your fellow trekkers and collect all the beautiful memories from this trek and leave for your destinations.
