Derthu Mata Temple:  Dedicated to Derthu Mata, this temple is a beautiful ancient Hindu temple located near Narkanda. The adorable view and the divine aura of the temple make this place a worth-it experience.

Stokes Farm: This place is famous for its apple orchards. Back in time, a man named Satyanand Stokes started cultivating apples in the region and now it has become a regular practice for people living there.

1. Kot Khai: Approximately 60km away from the city center, Kotkhai is a town and a Nagar panchayat in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. The name “Kot” means King’s Palace and “Khai” means depth, hence the name Kotkhai which means “King’s palace situated in-depth”. 

Kotkhai is a tehsil with over 40 villages, all famous for quality apple production. It is known for its fairs and traditional values and the people of Kotkhai are devoted to the Devtas. It offers a number of places to visit such as Kiala Forest, Kotkhai Palace, and Garawog. 

2. Theog: Theog is situated at a distance of 35km from Narkanda. One of the least crowded places in the state of Himachal Pradesh, Theog is a quiet and peaceful city that lies in the magnificent Himalayan Range. It is one of the favorite campsites for campers and adventure lovers. 

It is suitable for a weekend trip away from the chaos of the city as it is much less crowded and in fact an underrated hill station.

3. Kufri: Kufri is located at a distance of 48km from Narkanda. It is a popular tourist destination famous for its ski slopes, Kufri Zoo, and as starting point for treks. People visiting Shimla mostly visit this place to add some adventurous activities to their trip. To reach the main tourist spot of Kufri which is 2,720 meters above sea level, travelers have to either hike or take a pony from the parking lot.

Narkanda has good connectivity with many major cities as it lies en route to Kinnaur from Shimla. Direct buses are not available for Narkanda and one will have to change buses, once at Shimla. You can easily take your private vehicle to the town as the roads are smooth and well maintained.

You can also drive to Narkanda and enjoy the scenery along the way. From Shimla, it’s just 60 km away and it will take around 2 hours to reach there. The roads are well maintained and easily accessible.

Kalka is the closest broad gauge railway station to Narkanda which is located almost 125 km away. You can also opt for the famous toy train on the Kalka-Shimla route to reach Narkanda.
